Getting decennial cover with no history
“No history” means the insurer has no decennial insurance record in your name: a first policy after working as an employee, a return after several years out, or experience gained abroad. It is not an obstacle in itself, but your file must make up for the lack of history.
Insurers then assess your real competence: trade qualifications, documented years of experience, project references. Experience gained abroad can be taken into account if backed by translated documents.
Start with the activities you master best: a scope consistent with your experience makes acceptance easier and keeps the premium down. You can widen it later. See covered activities and exclusions.
If you are also starting your business, see our page on decennial insurance for a new business. If you are refused several times, the Bureau central de tarification route is explained on our decennial insurance after cancellation page.
